Computer Imaging
In this project driven course, students will shoot, manipulate, and combine their original images using Adobe Photoshop. Students will learn techniques to enhance the realism of combined images as well as work towards developing their own unique graphic style. Techniques will be demonstrated during course sessions and students will be responsible to use those techniques to create their own personal visual response to the challenges of the assignments.
This course is fully online and is designed for people with strong computer problem-solving skills. Although the course has Discussion Boards, Email, and a wonderful Help Menu in Photoshop, People who need personal attention should strongly consider taking the face to face version of this course.
Prerequisites:
Although there is no prerequisite class for this course, basic computer skills are mandatory . Prior experience with Adobe Photoshop or other graphic software is helpful. If you have no prior computer experience, Arts 4438, Computer Graphics is strongly recommended. Also, as this course requires shooting photographs, some students may also want to consider taking a Photography course.
This course requires access to a camera (preferably digital) as well as the softwares Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Powerpoint. If you do not own a copy of Photoshop, or have a computer, you may use one of the many Computer Lab facilities at UHCL.
As this course generates a high volume of large files, you may also need a fast internet connection to upload your completed files and view the many online movies. If slow or no internet connection is available at home, students may upload any of the assignments from any of the public computer facilities on the UHCL campus.
This course provides pivotal information required before continuing onto other areas. Take this course before continuing on to: Digital Photography, Web Design, 3d Modeling, Desktop Publishing, Digital Video Editing, Advertising Design.
