Paragraph Questions
Paragraph: students answer in a longer, essay-type format. The designer or the teaching assistant must
grade this type of question manually. For more information, please refer to
Grading Quizzes.
-
From your course Homepage, in Designer Options view (the default location and view when
you log in as an instructor), Click on the link you created with the Quiz/Survey Tool.
In this example, the link is titled "Quizzes".
-
Select "Question Bank" from the Quizzes/Surveys page.
-
You should see a page similar to the one below. Note the Category and
Question Type selections that must be made before creating the new question.
-
After selecting the desired category for your question, select
the type of question you wish to add from the drop-down box.
For this example, select "Paragraph" then click on "Go".
-
Enter the question title and the content of the question. One suggestion
is to use enough of the initial part of the actual question so that when
you see just a list of the titles, you will be able to easily associate
the title with the actual question.
-
From the Paragraph Question screen, under Settings, from the Answer
box size drop-down lists, select the length and width of the answer box
presented to students.
-
Under Answers, you can provide introductory text and/or an equation
in the
Pre-fill answerbox to aid or orient students. If you want to provide
students with the correct answer and/or the correct equation, type it into
the
Correct Answer text box. It will display once the question has
been graded. Finally, click "Save". The Question Database screen
appears and the paragraph question is added to the selected category.
- To enter additional questions into this category, return to Step #4.
-
To view the specific instructions associated with creating the different question types, please click
the appropriate link below. Note that a True / False question is a form of a Multiple
Choice question. However, there are only two possible answers, either True or False.
