Building Your Question Database

After you've created a quiz shell, you need to add questions to the quiz. The easiest method is to have all the questions in the database already, then select them into the quiz. This section explains how to create the various question types for your database.
  1. From your course Homepage, in Designer Options view (the default location and view when you log in as an instructor), Click on the link you created with the Quiz/Survey Tool. In this example, the link is titled "Quizzes".
    Select Quizzes from the Homepage
  2. Select "Question Database" from the Quizzes/Surveys page.
    Select Question Bank
  3. In the Question Database, you can organize your quiz or survey questions within categories. For example, you may want to store all questions related to a specific subject, or textbook chapter under an easily identifiable category name. You can create as many categories as you need. To create a category, Click the "Create Category" button.
    Create Category
  4. Type in the Category Title or name. Click the "Create" button to finish.
    Click Create
  5. You will return to the new category page and are ready to start adding questions.

  6. You can switch to any previously created categories by selecting the desired category name from the drop down box and clicking on "Go". Also note that you may delete any existing category. WARNING: Be mindful of which drop down box and "Go" button you are clicking. You can accidentally delete a whole category of questions.

  7. For general directions on entering questions into the database you have just created, go to entering questions into the quiz database.
