Creating Gradebook in WebCT

My Grades is a WebCT tool which allows you to post your students' grades for their perusal while complying with UHCL privacy policies regarding grades. At your option, My Grades will also provide your students with a basic statistical analysis (frequency, mean, etc.) of the scores for each graded items and for the course overall. Lastly, My Grades will automatically convert any numerical score into a letter grade, based upon the grading schema you create. You may then decide how to display the students' grade.

The basic steps you can take to get your gradebook up and running are:

  1. Adding the MyGrades tool to your course (if it's not already there).
  2. Add Columns to the gradebook. If you are curving each graded event, you will need to add at lease two columns per event. You will also add a third column if you wish to covert each event score converted to a letter grades. For instance, you would need a "raw score", "adjusted score", and "letter grade".
  3. Calculating Scores. This section shows you how to total the scores in other columns to arrive at a course total, a curve, or course average.
  4. Letter Grade. Here we will set up a letter grade schema to convert the scores in a selected column to a letter grade.

This section focuses on showing you the step-by-step process required to create each type of gradebook column. To get an idea of how a gradebook can be configured, complete each sub-section in the order presented in the menu.
