Add the Assignments Tool to Your Course

This section shows you the first steps to take in creating a place on your course site for your students to go to see or download their course work assignments. Completing this section will create a link to the overall assignments area of your Course site. You will create the links to the course material you wish to associate with the individual assignments in the next instructions sections. By following the steps below, you will create the initial menu link and specify where it will appear in your course site.
  1. Click on the Control Panel button.

  2. Choose to "Add a Page or Tool".

  3. Choose to add the Assignments tool.

  4. Add the information required to create the Menu Item that your students will use to access the assignments section of your course.

    1. Whatever you type into the first blank will be the title of the Menu Link for the Assignments area of your course. It will link your students to the Assignments area. Therefore, you may want to give it a generic name like: Assignments or Homework.
    2. You can have the link appear in either the navigation menu area or on an organizer page like the homepage of the course - or both. If you choose to have a link on an organizer page, you will also need to decide if you want an icon to be part of the link or not; and if so, which icon.
    3. Finally, click "Add" to create the link to the new tool.

  5. Now you are ready to go on to the next two sections where you will Add Links for each Assignment you have created for your students.
